The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.
As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
Do you have a passion for specialist education? Due to ongoing departmental developments, the National Risk and Resilience Department (NRRD) is looking to recruit into the position of Clinical Training Officer attached to the Special Operations Response Teams (SORT). The successful applicant would operate under the supervision of the NRRD Training centre Newbridge and primarily be working in Dundee/Aberdeen. However, this role has a national remit, and nationwide travel should be expected.
The purpose of the Department is to provide a comprehensive, effective and robust organisation-wide structure for risk management, integrated emergency planning, business continuity management, infrastructure security, community resilience, strategic operations and specialised operational response. The NRRD team also directly manages and trains the three full-time Specialist Operations Response Teams.
Reporting to the Training & Development Manager (SORT), you will assist in delivering all aspects of specialist training and exercising within NRRD and SORT. The post holder will be a Paramedic Registered with the Health Care Professions Council, and ideally experienced in supporting the delivery, development, implementation and evaluation of adult education. In addition, they should hold an appropriate level of teaching qualification (Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training / equivalent or above). Be able to demonstrate a proven track record of developing and delivering an educational curriculum within a healthcare setting.
Knowledge and understanding of our specialist response capability and experience in delivering, planning and assuring ambulance education within Special Operations Response Teams or CBRN responder teams is essential. You will represent the Scottish Ambulance Service on specialist groups, together with the emergency services and Scottish Government and engage with the development of training opportunities with other key stakeholders.
Major incidents can occur at any time, and you may be required to provide a response in the role of Tactical Advisor, or similar leadership role. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in a formal on call rota as part of the NRRD leadership team.
The nature of the role means that you will be required to deal with sensitive information for which Security Clearance (SC) will be required.
Delivery of Difficult Access & Retrieval (DAR) Specialisms have physical parameters in place due to PPE requirements that must be met by Instructors, these include:
- Maximum weight 130Kg (wearing ground suit/helmet/gloves/boots/service greens)
- Minimum Weight 60Kg
- Minimum Height 160cm
- Shoe size minimum 5
In addition, applicants must pass the SORT Operative Physical Competency Assessment (PCA).
