Today, we operate over 70 services in communities across Scotland, providing mental health social care support, addictions and employment services, among others. Together with national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention, and physical activity and sport, these services inform SAMH's policy and campaign work to influence positive social change. About the Role

This work is about helping people to live well and achieve the things in life that really matter to them. We have roles available in a new mental health service, commissioned by Glasgow City Council supporting people living with moderate to severe and enduring mental health issues to live fulfilled lives and achieve goals. Based in Dowanhill area of Partick, this new exciting service will use recovery focussed interventions, supporting people to develop skills and positive support networks towards living an independent life in the community.

The Recovery Coach is a flexible multi-skilled role providing direct emotional wellbeing and practical support to individuals to improve their mental health and wellbeing. Working with people on a 1-2-1 or group basis, in people's homes and communities the Recovery Coach will work with individuals to identify strengths and issues and goals. They encourage individuals to recognise and use their existing strengths, support building new skills to build momentum in self‑management, personal recovery and building capacity. Assessing individual's strengths and needs, the Recovery Coach will link individuals with meaningful supports within their community.

What we are looking for

We will ask you to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) membership scheme and register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). We're looking for people with great people skills who are honest, reliable and resilient in challenging situations. Ideally for this role you will have experience supporting people with mental health problems, key‑working and case management. Everyone we support is different and we use individually tailored plans to help them to identify where their strengths lie and support them in the areas where they may need it. In this role your attitude and personality matter as much as your skills and experiences. We are looking for initiative, compassion, energy and determination and the ability to motivate and inspire people who use our services to develop their skills and self‑confidence and realise their aspirations. This is a challenging and exciting opportunity and you will go home each day knowing you made a difference.

Supporting the people who use our services means there are a variety of shift patterns including evenings, weekends, sleepovers and on calls. You will be allocated to a service base but be required to work flexibly across local services.
