Around since 1923, SAMH is Scotland's national mental health charity. Today, we operate over 70 services in communities across Scotland, providing mental health social care support, addictions and employment services, among others. Together with national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention, and physical activity and sport, these services inform SAMH's policy and campaign work to influence positive social change. About the Role
This role is part of SAMH's dynamic Fundraising & Income Generation department, which plays a vital role in driving the financial growth and sustainability of our organisation. Within this department, there are five dedicated teams, each crucial to generating income through diverse strategies and initiatives:
- Workplace Delivery and Development
- Community and Events
- Individual Giving and Trusts & Foundations
- Major Appeal
- Fundraising Operations
These teams work collaboratively, integrating their expertise to maximise opportunities through cross-selling and upselling, ensuring a cohesive and effective approach to achieving our goals. Joining this team means being at the forefront of innovative income generation efforts that directly support SAMH's mission.
Reporting to the Product Development Manager, the Digital Fundraising Officer will play a key role in maximising SAMH's use of online platforms for marketing activity to raise funds and awareness of SAMH. The role holder will seek new opportunities to attract, engage and retain supporters through the creation and execution of digital fundraising strategies.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the full life cycle of digital fundraising campaigns, including planning, execution, analysis and reporting, working closely and sharing insights with fundraising colleagues to support creation and delivery.
- Create a range of content to support the Fundraising & Income Generation department to resonate with different audiences, including social media content, photos, videos, digital adverts and other marketing materials.
- Manage relationships with digital marketing agencies for the purpose of lead generation and digital acquisition, optimising performance through paid media channels including Google and social media.
- Support the development and maintenance of fundraising webpages and lead on the creation and/or editing of content to ensure information is up to date and relevant.
- Engage with supporters on digital platforms, build relationships and facilitate introductions to fundraising colleagues in order to maximise opportunities and income, including inputting and maintaining supporter information on the fundraising database (Raisers Edge).
- Proactively maintain excellent knowledge of digital fundraising practices and campaigns across the sector. This should include monitoring digital fundraising trends and exploring new and emerging technologies in order to optimise our current activity, or to trial new digital fundraising tactics.
- Attend events across the region and capture relevant content to maximise social media engagement for those events.
- Contribute to the smooth running of a busy fundraising operation, including undertaking other duties that are within the scope and remit of the role and as agreed with your line manager.

- Be a positive ambassador for SAMH and the mental health cause when engaging with external stakeholders and contacts.
- Ensure own personal and professional development is in line with the requirements of job description.
- Undertake any other duties, which are in keeping with the grade and overall purpose of the post.
