Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Veterinary Surgeon role based in Bedford. The Veterinary Surgeon will provide high-quality clinical care to small animals, including performing surgical procedures, diagnosing and treating medical conditions, and managing inpatient and outpatient cases.
Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting consultations, creating treatment plans, interpreting diagnostic tests, and collaborating with nurses and support staff to ensure safe and effective patient care. The role also involves communicating clearly with clients, providing guidance on pet care and preventive medicine, and maintaining accurate medical records. The Veterinary Surgeon will contribute to a supportive team culture, uphold hospital standards, and engage in continuous professional development.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Veterinary Surgery and Veterinary Medicine, with the ability to perform routine and complex procedures safely and effectively.
- Competence in Medicine and Pet Care, including diagnostic reasoning, treatment planning, and advising clients on preventive health and welfare.
- Laboratory Skills and familiarity with Veterinary Medicine diagnostics, such as sample collection, interpretation of lab results, and use of imaging and other diagnostic tools.
- Recognized veterinary degree (e.g., MRCVS or equivalent) and eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working in a multidisciplinary clinical team.
- Commitment to clinical excellence, patient safety, and ongoing professional development, including interest in further certifications or specialisms.
- Ability to work effectively in a busy hospital environment, demonstrating sound judgment, empathy, and resilience.
