We’re looking for a (Part‑Time) Payroll Assistant to join our People Experience Team, based in Newcastle. Payroll Assistant ensures accurate and timely compilation of payroll data for all employees, preparing payroll information for submission to the outsourced payroll provider, and supporting compliance with statutory and company requirements.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Collect, verify, and input payroll data (e.g. changes to salary, variable pay, deductions, pension contribution changes, bank account changes, new starters and leavers) from People Experience team, HRM System and Payroll Inbox.
- Maintain accurate employee records related to pay, benefits, and deductions on HRM System and Payroll Submission.
- Prepare Payroll Submission and reconcile data before submission to Payroll provider.
- Liaise with the outsourced provider and Group Finance to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll.
- Verification of first draft submission and payslips.
- Supporting pension re‑enrolment tasks.
- Respond to employee payroll queries and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Maintenance of employee loans records.
- Assist with year‑end processes, including P60 and P11D reporting.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Experience as a Payroll Assistant or similar role.
- Good understanding of payroll processes and UK legislation.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi‑task and prioritise effectively, delivering to prescribed deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in using office software, including MS Office Suite, particularly Excel (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Exceptional time management.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
