We work with some of the UK's biggest companies and government departments to provide a pragmatic approach to technology, delivering bespoke software solutions and expert advice. Our clients are increasingly looking to us to help them make the best use of their data. We’re looking for a Senior Data Analyst, combining solid data fundamentals and sharp analytical judgement with a business focus.

Someone able to drive data discovery work, work with stakeholders providing or consuming data, and provide clarity and insight for our teams. Work will include digging into raw, unfamiliar data, frequently at scale and in production, to work out what is there, how it fits together, and where it can and can't be trusted. You’ll separate genuine data issues from quirks of history, size the impact and risk, and give data engineers the clear, evidenced picture they need to build reliable data models.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role, often working at the foundational end of the data lifecycle, but you'll also be guiding clients in extracting the most value and impact from their data. You'll work with large datasets, diagnose anomalies and work out solutions. You'll be a trusted point of support for the data scientists and engineers working with the data, and you'll work directly with clients, shaping requirements and presenting findings to their stakeholders while navigating the governance around sensitive, regulated data.

We're technology agnostic, and we're open minded when it comes to your existing skillset. What are we looking for?

  • Significant experience profiling and investigating large, complex datasets at scale and in production.
  • Experience with technologies such as SQL, Spark and Python, and you're confident querying analytical data directly rather than relying on pre-built reporting.
  • You're a problem-solver who works independently, with the judgement to direct your own investigations.
  • You can gather and shape requirements through conversations and workshops, inform priorities, and work within the governance and access controls around sensitive data.
  • Hands-on data presentation, analytics and dashboarding skills – both to help understand how data is consumed, and for ad hoc presentational work.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach, comfortable presenting findings to senior client stakeholders, influencing decisions and constructively challenging when the evidence points the other way.
  • You embrace the chance to try new things, learn new skills and grow your experience, and to help others on the team do the same.

What you'll get in return is:

  • 25 days' annual leave, rising incrementally to 30 days after six years of service.
  • Generous family leave policies.
  • Access to an employer pension scheme and Group Life Assurance.
  • A range of optional benefits such as discounted gym membership and a cycle-to-work scheme.
  • A meaningful approach to evaluating your performance and providing feedback on your progress.

At Scott Logic, we value the flexibility of remote working alongside the value gained from spending time with our colleagues and clients. In our offices you'll find employee-led clubs and events, as well as free games, books, and refreshments. We have shared values that govern our behaviour toward others and the environment. We are proud to be a B Corp, a global movement of businesses driving for a more inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy.
