We’re looking for a proactive and people focused Training Coordinator to lead the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of all operations and soft skills training at our manufacturing facility in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. In this key role, you will ensure that all Production, Processing and Warehouse operatives are trained, assessed, and fully compliant with internal procedures and regulatory standards. You’ll work closely with line leaders to build capability, support right first time performance, and promote a strong food safety and quality culture across all shifts. Key Responsibilities
- Training Strategy & Governance
- Develop and maintain the site Training Plan and annual Training Calendar, covering induction, mandatory, refresher, and progression pathways.
- Align all training with HACCP, GMP, allergen control, sanitation, hygiene, traceability, and food defence requirements.
- Maintain a robust Training Matrix for all site roles, ensuring accuracy and zero compliance gaps.
- Ensure training content is aligned to SOPs, Work Instructions, Risk Assessments, and Change Control processes.
- Technical & Compliance Training
- Design and deliver high quality on the job (OJT) training across Machine Operation, Processing, Quality/Lab, and Warehouse/Despatch roles.
- Deliver mandatory training including Food Hygiene, Allergen Awareness, Health & Safety, COSHH, and Chemical Handling.
- Support audit readiness for BRCGS Food Safety, customer standards, and UK food legislation.
- Cross Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, EHS, Warehouse, and HR to prioritise training needs, support start ups, and manage new product or process introductions.
- Coordinate specialist equipment training with suppliers and technicians (e.g., Cookers, Blenders Casting and packaging machines).
- Support onboarding for new starters, agency workers, and contractors to ensure readiness before entering live production.
- Continuous Improvement & Culture
- Evaluate training effectiveness using KPIs, feedback, audit findings, and performance trends.
- Promote a strong food safety and quality culture by coaching, reinforcing behaviours, and embedding GMP standards.
- Lead or support CI activities related to skills gaps, waste, or downtime.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in food manufacturing, ideally dairy or other high risk products.
- Demonstrated experience in training coordination or L&D within a factory or similar environment.
- Strong understanding of HACCP, GMP, sanitation, allergens, traceability, and audit requirements.
- Skilled in developing training materials (SOPs, WIs, e learning) and conducting competency assessments.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills with confidence working across multilingual, shift based teams.
- Organised, detail oriented, and diligent with training records and compliance documentation.
Desirable
- Train the Trainer certification.
- Food Safety / HACCP Level 3+.
- Lean/Continuous Improvement experience.
- Experience with digital learning systems/LMS.
