Housekeeping Manager

Join SPACE and help shape the future of student living.

At SPACE, we believe student accommodation should be more than just a place to live.

We create vibrant, welcoming communities where residents feel safe, supported and proud to call home.

As our portfolio continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Housekeeping Manager to lead our housekeeping and maintenance operations across our St Andrews portfolio, including SPACE St Andrews and East Sands.

This is a hands on leadership role responsible for maintaining exceptional standards across our student accommodation, leading our housekeeping and maintenance teams, and delivering a first class environment for our residents, guests and visitors throughout the year.

The Role

As Housekeeping Manager, you will lead and develop our housekeeping teams, ensuring all communal areas, back of house spaces and guest facing facilities are maintained to the highest possible standard.

You will also oversee our resident cleaning service, helping to maximise revenue while delivering an excellent customer experience.

Working closely with the wider operations team, you will ensure all communal spaces across the portfolio, including The Social SPACE, are maintained to exceptional standards of cleanliness and presentation.

You will oversee cleaning schedules to ensure every area of our developments provides a welcoming environment for residents, guests and visitors.

The role also includes day to day line management of our on site maintenance team, ensuring our developments remain safe, compliant and presented to the highest standards.

During the summer months you will play a key role in delivering our hotel accommodation operation, leading the housekeeping function, managing bedroom turnaround programmes, linen operations, quality inspections and ensuring every guest room is presented to an exceptional standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, motivate and develop the housekeeping and maintenance teams across SPACE St Andrews and East Sands.
  • Deliver exceptional standards of cleanliness throughout all public areas, communal spaces, resident facilities, back of house areas and The Social SPACE.
  • Manage the resident cleaning service, driving uptake and maximising revenue opportunities.
  • Recruit, train, coach and develop housekeeping colleagues, creating a high performing team culture.
  • Line manage the maintenance team, supporting planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs and presentation standards across the developments.
  • Manage rotas, labour budgets and productivity to deliver an efficient operation.
  • Procure cleaning chemicals, consumables, linen and housekeeping equipment while maintaining effective stock control.
  • Ensure full compliance with COSHH, health and safety legislation and company policies.
  • Complete regular quality inspections and audits, implementing continuous improvements where required.
  • Lead the housekeeping operation throughout the summer hotel season, including room turnaround planning, linen management, quality assurance and operational readiness.
  • Work closely with Front of House, Operations and The Social SPACE teams to deliver an outstanding resident and guest experience.
  • Support the Operations Manager with mobilisation projects, refurbishment programmes and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

You are an experienced operational leader who takes pride in delivering exceptional standards and developing successful teams.

You enjoy working in a fast paced environment, leading by example and creating welcoming spaces that residents and guests are proud to use.

You will ideally have

  • Previous management experience within housekeeping, hospitality, hotels, student accommodation or residential operations.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with experience of recruitment, coaching and performance management.
  • Experience managing housekeeping operations across multiple areas or departments.
  • Knowledge of COSHH, health and safety legislation and cleaning best practice.
  • Experience managing stock, ordering and supplier relationships.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
