Role Summary
Student Wardens are residents who live within the development and provide an on-call emergency response service outside of normal reception hours.
They play an important role in maintaining the safety, security and wellbeing of the community by responding to incidents such as fire alarms, resident lock outs, emergency check ins and other urgent situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to fire alarm activations and follow emergency procedures.
- Attend resident lock outs and provide access after verifying identity.
- Complete out of hours resident check ins where required.
- Respond to emergency maintenance and security issues, escalating where appropriate.
- Provide basic welfare support and assist emergency services when required.
- Record all incidents and communicate with the on-call manager.
- Represent SPACE professionally and provide excellent customer service.
Person Specification
- Current resident of the development.
- Reliable, responsible and able to remain calm under pressure.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Able to work independently and make sensible decisions.
- Willing to complete all required training, including fire safety and emergency procedures.
- Pay
- £25 on call payment for each scheduled shift.
- £15 call out payment for each incident attended.
- Hours
Student Wardens participate in an on call rota covering evenings, overnight periods, weekends and public holidays.
Wardens must remain available to attend the development promptly during their allocated shifts.
Training
Full training will be provided, including fire safety, emergency procedures, safeguarding, incident reporting and key control.
