Overview
As the Sales & Events Manager at The Scotsman Hotel, you will play a pivotal role in driving group and event business to one of Scotland’s most iconic and luxurious heritage hotels. You will be responsible for generating revenue through the proactive sales of our diverse event spaces, while delivering personalised, world-class service aligned with the elegance and prestige of The Scotsman brand. With a deep understanding of the luxury hospitality market, you will act as a trusted advisor to corporate clients, social planners, and high-profile guests seeking refined, bespoke event experiences in the heart of Edinburgh.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development:
- Proactively source, secure, and convert new MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events) and group business for The Scotsman Hotel.
- Promote the hotel\’s unique event spaces, including heritage boardrooms, private screening rooms, and exclusive dining venues, with a focus on tailored, high-end experiences.
- Prepare detailed and personalised proposals, conduct site visits, and represent the hotel in a polished and professional manner to prospective clients.
- Build strategic partnerships with local businesses, event planners, DMCs, and travel trade partners.
Client Relationship Management:
- Act as the main point of contact for clients from enquiry through to post-event follow-up, ensuring the highest level of service at every stage.
- Cultivate long-term relationships with repeat clients and VIP guests, understanding their preferences and anticipating their needs.
- Uphold The Scotsman’s reputation for discretion, excellence, and refined Scottish hospitality.
Event Coordination & Execution:
- Work closely with operations, F&B, rooms division, and the concierge team to ensure flawless execution of each event.
- Oversee contract preparation, room block management, billing coordination, and event detailing in alignment with brand standards.
- Ensure all events are delivered to the five-star level expected of The Scotsman Hotel.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for growth.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, activity logs, and event recaps.
- Attend relevant industry events, exhibitions, and networking functions to increase brand awareness and bookings.
Requirements
- Proven ability to exceed revenue targets while maintaining a luxury client experience.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with a natural flair for relationship-building.
- Experience with sales/event software such as Delphi, Opera, or similar platforms.
- A genuine appreciation for heritage properties and the ability to convey The Scotsman’s unique story and character.
