Our Cafe Assistants play a versatile and vital role in delivering a high-quality customer experience across all areas of the café. From crafting expertly made coffee, greeting guests, managing orders, to maintaining cleanliness and supporting service, this position combines the responsibilities of a barista, server, runner, host, and cashier. The ideal candidate brings energy, teamwork, and attention to detail to every shift, helping create a welcoming and efficient café environment.
- Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold beverages.
- Greet and engage with customers warmly, and assisting with menu inquiries.
- Process payments accurately.
- Deliver food and beverages to tables promptly, ensuring orders are correct and presentation is consistent.
- Clear, clean, and reset tables efficiently to maintain a tidy and inviting space.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation across service areas, including coffee bar, dining area, and host station.
- Assist with restocking supplies, setting up/breaking down stations, and managing waste/recycling.
- Support team members during busy periods to ensure seamless service.
- Manage seating arrangements and waitlists, and address customer inquiries or concerns professionally.
Requirements of the Role:
- Previous experience in hospitality, retail, or customer service is helpful but not essential.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of food safety, hygiene practices, and coffee brewing techniques (training provided).
- Physically able to stand for extended periods, lift/carry trays or supplies, and move around the café.
- Reliable, punctual, and adaptable to a variety of tasks and service situations.
Rate shown is for those aged 21 and over, competitive rates for ages 16 – 20.
