At Scotsdales, Great Shelford, we're looking for an experienced and energetic Front of House Manager to join our brand-new café, which opened its doors in June 2025. With 550 seats, a team of 70 Front of House staff, and 6 direct supervisory reports, this is an opportunity to shape the culture, standards, and guest experience of a large, fast‐paced hospitality environment from the ground up.
This role reports directly into the Café Manager, who will in turn support and guide your growth and progression within the business. It's an ideal next step for an ambitious Manager from a smaller venue or an Assistant Manager from a larger hospitality setting looking to take on more responsibility and scale.
Main Duties- Lead a large Front of House team across a busy 550‐seat café.
- Train, mentor, and develop 6 Supervisors, ensuring consistent operational standards.
- Coach team members on service excellence, efficiency, and guest engagement.
- Maintain a strong presence on the floor—this is a physically demanding role in a large, high‐footfall environment.
- Oversee daily service delivery, ensuring smooth operations from open to close.
- Manage customer interactions, including resolving complaints with confidence.
- Lead on recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development of FOH staff.
- Take responsibility for managing attendance, lateness, absence, and performance concerns within the team.
- Support a positive, motivated, and accountable team culture.
- Ensure all operations meet health and safety standards.
- Support supervisors in maintaining a safe working environment for staff and guests.
- Champion outstanding service, ensuring every guest feels welcomed and impressed.
- Confidently host large groups and interact with guests in a warm, engaging way.
- Proven experience as a Front of House Manager or in a similar leadership role within the hospitality industry.
- A minimum of level 2 in Food Safety.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a diverse team.
- Excellent problem‐solving abilities and conflict resolution skills to handle customer complaints effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of café operations, including service techniques, food safety, and hygiene standards.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast‐paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanour under pressure.
