The Kitchen Assistant plays an important role in supporting the kitchen team, assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly. This position involves working closely with chefs and kitchen colleagues to help prepare ingredients, manage inventory, and maintain high standards of hygiene and organisation in all kitchen areas.
Main Duties
- Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, and organising as directed by chefs.
- Assist with simple cooking tasks, such as assembling salads or preparing garnishes.
- Ensure all kitchen surfaces, equipment, and tools are cleaned and sanitized regularly.
- Monitor stock levels, organise inventory, and inform the Senior chef of any shortages.
- Dispose of waste and maintain a clean environment in all food preparation and storage areas.
- Operate dishwashing and other kitchen equipment safely.
- Follow health and safety guidelines to uphold a safe working environment.
Requirements of the Role
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen essential.
- Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
