We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Garden Care Assistant to join our team in Horningsea, on a full-time basis. This role focuses on maintaining indoor and outdoor retail areas to a high standard. The successful candidate will enjoy working outdoors and take pride in providing the best possible customer service throughout the season.

Main Duties

  • Provide helpful, knowledgeable advice to customers on a wide range of garden and landscaping products
  • Maintain stock levels and merchandising
  • Keep the indoor and outdoor retail area tidy, well-stocked, and compliant with health and safety regulations
  • Assist with deliveries, including unloading and organising heavy goods
  • Operate tills and process transactions accurately
  • Respond to customer enquiries in person and over the phone
  • Work closely with the wider team to ensure smooth daily operations and excellent customer service

Requirements of the Role

  • Previous experience in a retail, trade, or garden centre environment is desirable
  • Good knowledge or interest in gardening, landscaping products, or DIY is a strong advantage
  • Physically fit. Comfortable handling heavy products and manual lifting (training will be provided)
  • Friendly, approachable, and customer-focused attitude
  • Reliable, punctual, and a team player

Rates displayed are for 21+, competitive rates for 18–20 year-olds.

Job Types

  • Full-time, Permanent

Pay

  • £12.75 per hour

Expected hours

  • Full time – This will include a set day off in the week, working every other weekend (9am – 5pm).

Experience

  • Retail: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification

  • Forklift Licence (preferred)

Schedule

  • Day shift
  • Every other weekend
  • Monday to Friday (with set day off in the week)
