ScotRail has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Commercial Director to lead our commercial strategy, driving revenue and journey growth whilst enhancing the customer experience across Scotlands Railway. This is a pivotal executive role, responsible for shaping the future of travel in Scotland through innovative sales and marketing initiatives, product development, and retail enhancements. In addition, the Commercial Director will leverage customer insight to inform forecasting and strategic decisions and develop a compelling on-train hospitality offer which balances both customer expectations and operational efficiency.
Please note there will be on-call commitments for this role.

  • Demonstrable success in a senior commercial leadership role, with a proven ability to drive sustained revenue growth, deliver against strategic objectives, and lead transformative initiatives to enhance business performance and customer value.
  • Impactful leadership skills with extensive experience managing large budgets and complex teams within a multi-matrix organisation.
  • Highly skilled and experienced in identifying revenue opportunities and managing financial performance at a strategic level.
  • Effective communicator with experience operating and influencing at Board level and with external stakeholders and partners.
  • A decisive and forward-thinking leader who brings energy, creativity, and a dynamic approach to problem-solving and strategic execution.
