Job Opportunity: Moorland Education Programme Manager
Part-time | Freelance | Home-based | £20/hr
The Moorland Education and Research Trust (MERT) is a new Scottish charity promoting education, careers, and research around moorland management. We are seeking a part-time Moorland Education Programme Manager to deliver our first year of activity, bringing school children to moorlands for structured learning about biodiversity, land use, and rural jobs.
This freelance role (approx. 15 hours/week) is ideal for someone with experience in outdoor education, working with children, and project delivery. Responsibilities include managing budgets, contracting and supporting education practitioners, developing resources and procedures, risk and safeguarding oversight, and evaluating programme impact.
Applicants should have strong communication and organisational skills, understanding of moorland management, and the ability to build partnerships. Experience of curriculum-aligned education and developing teaching materials is desirable.
This is a one-year contract with potential to extend. You’ll play a key role in shaping how young people engage with Scotland’s upland landscapes.
