About The Team: The Forestry and Land-Based Engineering team are based at SRUC Barony Campus, Dumfries, with on-site facilities including the Scottish Forest Industry Technology Centre (SFITC), tree nursery, arboretum, sawmill, drones, and decay detection equipment.

The Opportunity: SRUC (Scotland's Rural College) is seeking an experienced and passionate Lecturer in Forestry to join our dynamic team at the Barony Campus. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of forestry and arboriculture higher education, contributing to a vibrant, industry-led programme that supports learners and the wider sector.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in the forestry or arboriculture industry, including sustainable tree and forest management, tree science, and grant applications. You will also have a strong track record of working to deadlines within commercial forestry and arboriculture sectors.

In this role, you will contribute to the development and delivery of an innovative HE programme for forestry and arboriculture education and training. Planning and preparing engaging, inclusive learning experiences will be central to your work, and you will collaborate effectively with colleagues while also working independently where required.

You will ensure that campus-based and work-based learning programmes meet all relevant contractual and quality assurance requirements, including compiling and submitting internal and external data and reports. Compliance with health and safety policies and guidelines in teaching will be essential. Working closely with the Senior Forester, you will help identify opportunities to expand the academic portfolio and increase student recruitment. Additionally, you will contribute to wider forestry and environmental management training activities and foster strong relationships with colleagues and industry partners.

Minimum Qualifications: The ideal candidate should be educated SCQF Level 10 (Honours degree in Forestry or a related land-based discipline) complemented by relevant industry certifications or accreditations. The ideal candidate will bring a solid understanding of forestry practices and land management.
