You will lead a talented team of software professionals to drive Client data and platform modernization, re-platforming legacy technologies to improve platform performance, latency, availability and have a large impact on our overall Scotiabank customer experience.

  • Lead, mentor, inspire, and grow a team of high-performance Development and Delivery Leads.
  • Define and drive Client systems technology vision and an executable roadmap for CIS applications.
  • Accountable for application development of multiple complex business as well as technical initiatives aligned to banks strategic priorities.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within prescribed timeline and budget.
  • Set a very high bar for code delivery.
  • Ensure design decisions align with overarching technical strategy and outperform standards set for security, resilience, and app performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business partners, broader CB technology teams, enterprise teams such as security, fraud and infrastructure to deliver initiatives and drive efficiency across the organization.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, strong team spirit and psychological safety.
  • Encourage innovative solutions through methodical experimentation.
  • Deliver a superior and inclusive employee and business partner experience.
  • Maintain individualized goals, provide relevant growth opportunities and timely coaching.
  • Maintain detailed forecasts to ensure each team member is equitably allocated.
  • Exhibit robust problem-solving and decision-making skills, tackling both technical and strategic challenges in innovative ways, and leveraging both data and intuition to make strategic choices in the face of ambiguity and complexity.
  • Oversee the domain budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support key projects and initiatives.
  • Create and maintain KPIs across portfolio to monitor reliability, scalability, and maintainability.

Do you have the skills that will enable you succeed in this role?

  • At least 8+ years of experience in software development.
  • Previous experience as a Senior Development Manager is preferred.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex software preferably in client data and systems environment with exposure to multiple technologies such as mainframe, database systems and integration platforms.
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of projects – new initiatives, business as usual and transformation balancing short-term goals with long-term vision in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to leverage intuition and judgment to make informed decisions in scenarios where perfect information may not be available.
  • Insatiable curiosity, with a passion for learning new technology, keeping up with industry innovation, and constantly questioning the status quo.
  • Excellent communication skills with a knack for setting clear expectations.
  • Experience navigating and leading in a fast-paced, agile environment with rapidly shifting priorities.
  • Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, architecture, agile methodologies, and delivery best practices.
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science is highly advantageous.
