  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support compliance with environmental legislation and company standards
  • Provide environmental advice and guidance, supporting legal compliance and contributing to the Compliance & Assurance programme
  • Manage the Environmental Management System (EMS) in line with ISO 14001 requirements, including supporting external audits and driving continuous improvement through internal audits and reviews
  • Monitor environmental performance against agreed targets and undertake site inspections and audits as required
  • Support the review and development of environmental procedures, guidance documents, and other EMS-related documentation
  • Lead waste management activities within your region, identifying opportunities for improvement and carrying out duty of care audits where required
  • Provide environmental support for permit applications, including discharge consents, trade effluent notices, and PPC permits
  • Investigate environmental incidents, identifying root causes and supporting improvement actions
  • Develop and share environmental communications and guidance across the business
  • Support the delivery of the Environmental Action Plan (EAP)

What you will need:

  • A qualification in an environmental discipline (e.g. diploma or degree) and/or relevant professional experience
  • Experience working in an environmental, compliance, governance, auditing, or management systems role
  • Knowledge of environmental management systems and ISO 14001 requirements
  • Understanding of environmental legislation and regulatory compliance principles
  • Knowledge of safety management systems, safety cases, investigations, auditing processes, and document control practices would be beneficial
  • Ability to analyse information, prepare reports, and work collaboratively with operational teams and stakeholders
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with people at all levels
  • Ability to manage priorities, organise your workload, and work independently where appropriate
  • Professional memberships and certifications such as IEMA/ISEP membership, NEBOSH General Certificate, or equivalent experience are desirable but not essential
