Overview
In this role you will lead and manage commercial activities for long-term contracts within SGN’s Procurement & Supply Chain team. You will drive value through commercial excellence, process improvements, and strategic contract approaches. You will mentor a team of procurement and commercial professionals and collaborate with Legal, Operations and Finance to support senior stakeholders. This is a chance to shape contract strategy in a regulated energy setting and contribute to SGN’s net-zero energy mission.

Responsibilities
- Manage long-term and strategic contracts with a commercial focus
- Lead and grow the procurement/commercial team
- Enhance commercial processes and governance
- Introduce value engineering to improve value and efficiency
- Develop and lead sustainable contract strategies
- Administer contracts across NEC3/4 and bespoke agreements on construction/infrastructure projects
- Prepare tender documentation including draft contracts and bills of quantities
- Liaise with senior stakeholders (Legal, Operations, Finance)
- Contribute to reporting on commercial performance for directors and stakeholders
- Identify contract risks and implement mitigation measures
Key requirements
- Background in Quantity Surveying, Procurement, Commercial Management or Law
- Degree level education desirable but not mandatory
- Innovative commercial thinking for a regulated environment
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and deliver quality output
- Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills with diverse stakeholders
- Willingness to travel across the Southern network
- IT proficiency including MS Office and purchase to pay systems
