Interim HR Business Partner – Commercial
Fixed-term (c. 8–9 months) ¦ Full-time or Part-time ¦ On Site, EH52 5LY, West Lothian (hybrid working may be considered)
Here in Ian Macleod Distillers, being ‘in good company’ means working with people who value straight talking, trust each other to deliver, and focus on what really matters. We are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner to join us on an interim basis, providing cover while one of the HRBP team steps in to support a key internal project. The successful candidate will take up a role where pace, judgment and practical delivery matter from day one, and where there will be immediate impact.
This role is heavily focused on execution and delivery: ensuring existing and any newly developed central people initiatives are embedded effectively across our commercial teams; supporting change; and evolving ways of working, all with a clear focus on commercial outcomes, operational optimisation and cost discipline.
What you’ll be doing
- Driving the delivery and embedding of a variety of people initiatives, ensuring they land well and work in practice
- Partnering with leaders across commercial teams to support change and ongoing organisational effectiveness
- Supporting evolving ways of working, helping teams adapt in a practical and sustainable way
- Providing balanced, pragmatic HR advice, flexing your approach rather than defaulting to ‘process’
- Leading and influencing workforce planning, recruitment and resourcing decisions with a strong commercial and cost lens
- Acting as a trusted advisor on employee relations matters, coaching managers to handle issues with consideration, proportionately and effectively
- Using data and insight to inform decisions and maintain focus on value and impact
- Maintaining pace and momentum, cutting through complexity to ensure things get done, efficiently and in the right way
What we’re looking for
- Proven HR Business Partner experience, ideally in a commercial and operational environment (this is not an entry level role or a development opportunity, but equally not a heavy senior strategic post.)
- Comfortable operating in an executional capacity, working independently and with solid experience and sound judgement
- Strong capability across employee relations and change cycles
- Confidence to apply pragmatic judgement over slavish process, knowing when to flex and when to hold the line
- Clear commercial awareness, with a focus on cost, value and business impact
- Ability to build credibility quickly and influence senior stakeholders
- Pragmatic, proactive and accountable, with a focus always on delivery
- Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation
Candidates must have the right to work in the UK. We are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
