My global banking client, based in Sheffield, are looking for a contract Senior Recovery Lead and Global Head of Service Reliability. They are looking for someone who is technical but also has the leadership experience needed.
The Technology Leader will lead a global team of technical experts who act as technical escalation partners during major incidents, helping reduce time to recover. Beyond recovery, this leader will also own the strategic and tactical roadmap for building reliable, self-healing systems through collaboration with Problem Management, SRE, and Platform teams.
6 month contract, based in Sheffield office 3 days a week. Paying £1000pd.
Qualifications- 12+ years of technology experience with strong background in SRE, DevOps, Infrastructure, or Technical Operations in high-scale environments
- Proven leader of global technical teams, with deep expertise in incident recovery, automation, systems design, and platform reliability
- Expert in problem management, root cause analysis, resilience engineering, and large-scale resilience or chaos testing
- Comfortable working in regulated environments, partnering closely with Risk, Compliance, and senior stakeholders
- Strong technical depth, recovery leadership, and cross-functional collaboration, driving reliability, automation, and cultural change.
- Lead a global incident recovery team, providing calm, technical leadership during major outages to accelerate resolution and restore services
- Own root cause analysis and long-term remediation, driving automation, reliability improvements, and measurable reduction in repeat incidents
- Define and execute service reliability strategy, embedding resilience, self-healing, and operational excellence into system design and engineering workflows
- Design and run large-scale scenario planning, mass recovery simulations, and chaos testing to strengthen resilience and regulatory readiness
- Build and influence high-performing global teams and stakeholders, fostering a blameless, learning-driven culture across Engineering, Risk, and Operations
