I'm working with a software engineering and technology consultancy that delivers secure cloud, software, and data solutions for organisations operating in defence and national security sectors. They're looking for an experienced and highly motivated Sales Manager / Business Development Manager to drive new business growth. This is a strategic, front‐line sales role focused on identifying, developing, and securing new customer accounts.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of selling into Defence or Intelligence organisations and will be comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders across complex and secure environments.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within Defence and Intelligence sector customers
  • Build and manage relationships with key decision-makers across government, defence primes, and associated organisations
  • Develop strategic account plans and execute targeted sales campaigns
  • Lead the full sales lifecycle from prospecting through to contract negotiation and deal closure
  • Work closely with technical and delivery teams to develop compelling solution propositions
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasting and pipeline management

Key requirements

  • Proven track record of winning new business within the Defence or Intelligence sectors
  • Experience working with or selling into MOD, government agencies, or defence primes
  • Demonstrable experience selling complex technology or software solutions
  • Strong network and understanding of the UK Defence and Intelligence landscape
  • Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and decision makers
  • Self-starter with a proactive, hunter mentality and strong commercial focus
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Willingness to travel regularly to customer sites across the Southwest of England
  • Existing network within the UK national security or defence community

What you’ll get in return

  • Competitive base salary of £60,000 – £80,000
  • Uncapped commission structure with first year OTE of approximately £150,000 – £200,000
