This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in a month at 23:59 BST.

We are looking for a skilled engineer to join our team in Muir of Ord. As a service engineer with Scot JCB, you will visit a variety of customer sites throughout the area to carry out maintenance, repairs and services on our customers' machines to a high standard, working on brands such as JCB, Horsch, and Ktwo. This is a fantastic opportunity to utilise and develop your engineering skills in a varied and interesting role.

Who are we? The Scot JCB Group is made up of Scot JCB, Scot Agri, Stewart Plant Sales and SIA Compressors & Generators. Scot JCB has been supplying and servicing JCB machinery throughout Scotland and the North of England for over 60 years. We sold our first machine in 1956 and have grown into a highly specialised machinery distribution company operating through a network of 15 depots from Fraserburgh in the North East of Scotland to Carnforth in Lancashire. Scot JCB is the largest JCB distributor in the UK and we pride ourselves on providing our customers with world class service.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Repairing and maintaining machines on customers' sites as required to ensure conformance with manufacturer's specification.
  • Attending breakdowns and fault finding on machines.
  • Accurately completing all relevant paperwork daily on a phone or tablet.
  • Submitting daily timesheets and job cards.
  • Accurately ordering your parts and working closely with the parts department.
  • Working closely with the service supervisor.
  • Helping to train and mentor apprentice engineers.
  • Carrying out inspections and repairs of machines at our depot as required - in conformance with manufacturer's specification and any regulations affecting their use.
  • Ensuring that there is no deficiency or defect likely to affect the safe working of a machine – and notifying appropriate manager of any defective or unsafe equipment.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant qualifications e.g. City and Guild, NVQ or SVQ in Construction Plant / Agricultural / HGV / Light Vehicle etc (essential).
  • Experience in plant, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions, and fault finding using electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and work well in a busy environment.
  • Great customer service skills and the ability to build rapport with our customers.
  • A flexible and positive outlook with an outgoing approach to work.
