We are looking for a skilled engineer to join our team in Carnforth. As a service engineer with Scot JCB, you will visit a variety of customer sites throughout the area to carry out maintenance, repairs and services on our customers' machines to a high standard. This is a fantastic opportunity to utilise and develop your engineering skills in a varied and interesting role.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Repairing and maintaining machines on customers' sites as required to ensure conformance with manufacturer’s specification
  • Attending breakdowns and fault finding on machines
  • Accurately completing all relevant paperwork daily
  • Submitting daily timesheets and job cards
  • Accurately ordering your parts and working closely with the parts department
  • Working closely with the service supervisor
  • Helping to train and mentor apprentice engineers
  • Carrying out inspections and repairs of machines at our depot as required - in conformance with manufacturer’s specification and any regulations affecting their use
  • Ensuring that there is no deficiency or defect likely to affect the safe working of a machine – and notifying appropriate manager of any defective or unsafe equipment

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant qualifications e.g. City and Guild, NVQ or SVQ in Construction Plant / HGV / Light Vehicle etc (essential)
  • Experience in construction plant, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions, and fault finding using electronic diagnostic equipment
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and work well in a busy environment
  • Great customer service skills and the ability to build rapport with our customers
  • A flexible and positive outlook with an outgoing approach to work
