Scot JCB Group are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our busy finance team. We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, organised, and eager to develop their career in finance. You’ll have a positive attitude, good attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 5pm, based at our Dennistoun office
Salary: Dependant on experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and reconcile invoices and payments
- Help prepare weekly payment runs
- Maintain and update financial records and ledgers
- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Respond to financial queries from internal teams or external partners
- Collecting debts by telephone, letter or email to ensure customers adhere to agreed terms
- Investigating disputed items and ensuring these are followed up by the relevant department
- Maintaining records of unresolved disputes and highlighting these to senior management
- Updating customer details and opening new accounts
- Balance Sheets reconciliation
- Other duties within the accounts team such as answering phone calls, processing incoming and outgoing mail etc
- Providing a professional service to both customers and employees
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an Accounts Assistant or in a similar role (1-2 years preferred)
- A solid understanding of basic accounting principles
- Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good team spirit, able to work well with colleagues at all levels in the business
