Scot JCB are looking for a skilled plant engineer to join our growing team of field engineers based in or around the Preston area. This is a field-based role where you will travel from your home directly to our customers' sites, so we are looking for a confident and independent individual with a strong background in the repair and maintenance of plant machinery. You will work closely with the team at our Carnforth depot and will be required to work at this depot from time to time.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Repairing and maintaining machines on customers' sites as required to ensure conformance with manufacturer's specification.
  • Accurately completing all relevant paperwork daily on a phone or tablet.
  • Submitting daily timesheets and job cards.
  • Accurately ordering your parts and working closely with the parts department.
  • Working closely with the service supervisor.
  • Carrying out inspections and repairs of machines at our depot as required - in conformance with manufacturer's specification and any regulations affecting their use.
  • Ensuring that there is no deficiency or defect likely to affect the safe working of a machine - and notifying appropriate manager of any defective or unsafe equipment.

Relevant experience and qualifications

  • City and Guild, NVQ or SVQ qualifications in Construction Plant Maintenance.
  • Experience in construction plant, diesel engines, electrics, hydraulics, transmissions, and fault finding using electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience working on JCB Loadalls would be advantageous.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks and work well in a busy environment.
  • Great customer service skills and the ability to build rapport with our customers.
  • Good IT skills.
  • A flexible and positive outlook with an outgoing approach to work.
