Job Description
About the role
We are looking for a confident and commercially focused Legal Counsel with 1 year PQE to join our in-house legal team. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business internationally and legal colleagues, providing practical, business-oriented legal support across a wide range of commercial, contractual, and compliance matters.
This role is ideal for a solicitor with solid post-qualification experience who is keen to gain hands-on exposure to a fast-paced, global environment and play a key role in supporting strategic and operational goals.
Responsibilities
- Support Contract Analysts, with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements including international supply, procurement, distribution, agency, and service contracts
- Provide clear, solutions-driven legal advice to business units including commercial, engineering, operations, and procurement
- Support the business on legal risk reviews, contractual liability, indemnities, warranty issues, and commercial disputes
- Advise on compliance with applicable regulatory regimes including anti-bribery laws, export controls, international sanctions, and industry-specific regulations
- Support data protection, IP, and ESG-related legal matters as needed
- Assist with corporate governance and internal policy development
- Work with external counsel on specialised or cross-border matters
- Contribute to legal training, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Legal & Contracts function
- Carrying out legal research and staying up to date on relevant legal development
Qualifications
- Qualified solicitor with approximately 1 year post-qualification experience (PQE)
Skills and Behaviors
- Strong grounding in commercial contract law and practical experience advising on contract negotiation and risk management
- Able to communicate legal concepts clearly and concisely to non-legal stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to manage workload independently and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive, commercially aware, and eager to contribute to business outcomes
- Comfortable working in a technical, industrial, or engineering-focused organisation
Experience
- Experience working across jurisdictions or within a global business is a plus
- Previous in-house experience within a manufacturing, engineering, or energy company
- Exposure to international trade, export control, or compliance work
- Familiarity with intellectual property, data protection, or ESG legal framework
