We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager who will be responsible for all Operations and Commercial activities at our Brighouse and Hull facilities in England, and in Ireland.

Reporting into senior management, the Operations Manager will be responsible for the performance, efficiency, and profitability of the operation, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to the high-quality standards our clients expect. This role is suited to someone with strong technical grounding in valves or industrial equipment, and a track record of managing people, budgets, and client relationships in an engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Responsible for all Operations and Commercial activities at our Brighouse and Hull facilities in England, and in Ireland.
  • Develop and deliver the annual operations budget, monitoring costs, margins, and financial performance against targets.
  • Drive growth and business development across all areas and markets identifying and pursuing new commercial opportunities to expand the customer base and revenue.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and endeavor to improve efficiency and profitability throughout the facility.
  • Responsible for the investigation and close-out of customer complaints or internal non-conformances, and the implementation of any preventative measures resulting from these investigations.
  • Approve purchase orders, contract reviews, and invoices.
  • Responsible for ensuring the Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality, and general housekeeping standards are adhered to.
  • Ensure the appropriate team carries out weekly Production Meetings/Priority Meetings to ensure contractual target dates are being met and address any internal issues within production accordingly.
  • Responsible for the organisation and support of all high-profile work scopes.
  • Responsible for problem-solving on problematic or high-profile valves going through production, to ensure contractual delivery dates are achieved and wasted resources are minimised.
  • Represent operations at senior management or leadership team level, contributing to wider business strategy and decision-making.
  • Compile monthly financial performance reports
  • Attend and participate in monthly ELT meetings.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Significant experience in an operations management role within a valve, manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Proven track record managing multi-site operations.
  • Proven experience identifying and winning new business, ideally within the valve, actuator, or wider industrial/engineering services sector.
  • Demonstrable P&L / budget ownership experience, with the ability to set and deliver against financial targets.
  • Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND, Degree, or equivalent experience) desirable; mechanical or valve/actuator industry background advantageous.
  • Experience in a senior leadership or Executive Leadership Team capacity preferred.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly between Brighouse, Hull, and Ireland sites, with occasional remote site visits as required.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Commercially driven, with a genuine appetite for identifying and pursuing growth opportunities.
  • Strong networking and relationship building skills, able to represent the business credibly with new and existing clients.
  • Commercially astute, with the ability to balance operational delivery against profitability and growth targets.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly under pressure with high profile or time-critical work scopes.
  • Strong communicator, comfortable interfacing with clients, senior stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple sites, priorities, and competing deadlines simultaneously.
  • A hands-on, proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Sound judgement and decision-making ability, particularly when representing the business at ELT level.
  • Resilient and adaptable, able to travel across sites and respond to evolving operational demands.
