The predicted salary is between 48000 - 72000 ÂŁ per year.
We are currently looking for a Gas Turbine Engine Test Cell Lead, to work within our Gas Turbines division. The successful applicant will lead operations at Score Energy’s Ground Level Engine Test Facility and will be responsible for the acceptance testing of Avon and RB211 Gas Turbines. They will also be required to assist with Project Support duties.
As Gas Turbine Engine Test Cell Lead, the individual will oversee all aspects of the engine test cell including the operation, maintenance and development of the engine test cell. Ensure safety, mechanical compliance and engine performance validation. Focus on operational excellence and bring development and improvement to the testing process and test cell. Individual shall supervise a team of seconded technicians and engineers, manage testing schedules and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
All work shall be carried out in accordance with company policies, procedures and work instructions and where conflict may occur it is their responsibility to escalate as necessary or discuss with the assigned production area(s).
Supporting ICE projects as directed by the Lead Engineer when not engine testing.
Primary Responsibilities- Lead and supervise a team of technicians and engineers, seconded for engine testing activities.
- Lead engine test as Test Controller for the delivery of each engine test.
- Oversee the operation of engine test cell, including setup, inspection and test of the gas turbine.
- Lead the growth strategy on testing more engines per year, and then also increasing testing capability of the test cell to bring in different engine types.
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and safety protocols for all test cell operations.
- Develop and maintain testing schedules, prioritising engine tests based on operational requirement and customer needs, and coordinate with other departments to optimize resource allocation and minimize downtime.
- Review and evaluate test results to ensure compliance with performance specifications and quality standards, and prepare reports and documentation summarising test results, performance metrics, and operational activities.
- Implement corrective actions and process improvements as necessary to enhance testing efficiency and accuracy, and develop and maintain standard operating process and procedure.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, including ISO, PTM standards and OEM specifications.
- Maintain documentation and records related to testing activities for audit and inspection purposes.
- Oversee the maintenance and calibration of test equipment and facilities to ensure reliability and accuracy.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff to address equipment issues and minimize disruptions to testing operations.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders, including engineers, managers, and customers, to provide updates on testing progress and issues.
- Provide help and direction to less experienced team members to support both their effective working, and their development in safety, quality and excellence.
- Support other areas of the Instrumentation and Control, and Engineering departments as priorities permit.
- Bachelor’s degree or HNC with considerable industry experience in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience in gas turbine engine testing, with proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Ideally experience with Rolls-Royce Avon / Siemens SGT-A20 and Rolls-Royce RB211 / Siemens SGT-A35.
- Strong knowledge of gas turbine engines, testing methodologies, and acceptance requirements.
- Experience with control systems, data acquisition systems, instrumentation, and test cell equipment.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and continuous improvement methodologies.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage performance and motivate individuals and a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills to enable effective working relationships with the ability to effectively communicate with staff across the business and with contractors.
