SCOR is now looking for a proactive and efficient underwriting assistant to join the Scor Syndicate. You will be tasked with supporting the underwriters within the US Binder Team with underwriting administration, client interactions, reporting, system updates and ensuring underwriting remains compliant to company policy and regulation.

Job Responsibilities

  • Enter enquiries, quotes, new and renewal business and endorsements into policy administration system in accordance with underwriting guidelines and within agreed timelines and accuracy levels (including creating of risk references)
  • Timely scanning of risk documentation to folders and document management systems
  • Track the status of all risks through every stage in the risk cycle
  • Track and monitor policy subjectivities
  • Management of team email inboxes
  • Monitor upcoming renewals and new risks in the business pipeline
  • Provide pre‑underwriting and rating support to Underwriters, ensuring calculations of premiums and local taxes are accurate for reporting requirements
  • Adherence with Lloyd\’s Minimum Standards including Pre‑Bind Quality Assurance
  • Ensure accurate and timely capture of estimated income, declarations and bordereaux on binders
  • Collate and send binding authority documentation to Delegated Underwriting Authority team for due diligence
  • Send risk and location information to the Exposure Management team for modelling

Broker/Client/Third Party Interaction

  • Provide a professional service to brokers, clients and third parties
  • Maintain and develop key relationships and respond to queries in a timely fashion
  • Prepare for, attend and take minutes at client and broker meetings
  • Liaise with brokers to ensure Slips and additional information received are accurate, complete and on time

Reporting & Operational Requirements

  • Provide accurate management information to the underwriting team and senior management
  • Produce regular and ad hoc reports, presentations and other team literature
  • Monitor credit control and aged debt ensuring the timely collection of premiums
  • Ensure all data verification checks are completed in a timely manner and errors escalated and resolved accordingly
  • Ensure all month end activities are completed within required timeframes to facilitate Syndicate and Lloyd\’s reporting, including:
    • LPSOs allocated to policies and audit trail maintained
    • Risks moved to status of Written
    • Pricing information accurate and complete in policy administration system or differences in premium resolved in the policy administration system
    • Checks, referrals and peer reviews complete and evidenced in the document management system

General Requirements

  • Identify and report problems within the policy administration system and assist with solution design
  • Assist with User Acceptance Testing of the policy administration system
  • Interact with all SMAL teams i.e. exposure management, underwriting management, claims, finance, operations and compliance on matters affecting or related to accounts within the team\’s portfolio
  • Help maintain SMAL minimum standards by assisting other underwriting assistants in achieving their service/quality levels and targets as required
  • Participate in cross‑team projects
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as may be requested by SMAL staff
  • Comply with SMAL policies, procedures and regulations relevant to your role
  • Manage training needs through attendance of relevant training and exams as advised by your line manager and also market presentations where relevant to your role
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as defined through your objectives
  • Uphold the principal of Treating Customers Fairly

Finalities

  • Guaranteeing that the underwriters have accurate and up to date information to assist them in performing their duties

Required Education

  • Educated to A Level, or equivalent qualifications
  • Relevant university degree, or equivalence
  • ACII Qualified

Required experience & competencies

  • Solid experience within administration with good attention to detail
  • Background in accurate, high volume data entry
  • Highly proficient in the use of Excel desirable
  • Prior insurance experience
  • Familiar with using UW systems, rating tools, reporting etc particularly Xuber would be an advantage
