The predicted salary is between 50000 - 65000 £ per year.

Help maintain, develop and underwrite a profitable book of UK Property Cat, Risk, Proportional and London Market D&F business. The role holder will be responsible, with Senior underwriter support, for reviewing, pricing and analysing enquiries sent to the team, and responding to brokers with quotes / indications / declinatures, where relevant. Contribute to planning, reporting and projects. The role will be Property focussed with the potential for involvement with other lines of business and wider team.

Responsibilities

  • In-depth technical analysis of treaty submissions and wordings, within the framework of SCOR Group Guidelines and in close liaison with actuarial / Underwriting Management units.
  • Liaise with Senior Underwriters in respect of underwriting decisions and ensure treaties are written and documented in accordance with the prescribed sign off triggers and procedures, with escalation through the relevant reporting line and to Underwriting Management, where required.
  • Maintain a high level of customer support and timely responses to queries.
  • Assist in the monitoring of the portfolio and tracking of KPIs, and participate in the production of the Underwriting plan, with proposals, objectives and strategies.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory requirements and their impact on clients’ balance sheet, with a view to proposing alternative reinsurance solutions, in collaboration with the relevant SCOR network.
  • Attend and document broker, client and market meetings, sharing information internally via Salesforce and following up on any related issues.
  • Support the unit in a wide range of common projects, workshops, and presentations.
  • Maintain strong client and broker relationships, research and develop new partnerships and business opportunities.
  • Attend underwriting visits and marketing activities and keep these recorded in the Salesforce database.
  • Prepare client action plans and executive summaries in conjunction with colleagues.
  • Engage with other Client Managers to ensure a joined-up, client-centric approach to underwriting.
  • Is accountable for the efficient administration of the assigned portfolio and the timely and accurate recording of such in SCOR’s IT systems, with the support of the Technical Accounting team.
  • Monitor and report on KPIs, risk accumulations and other capacities as necessary.
  • Contribute to the production of the Renewal reports, Portfolio Reviews, and Underwriting Plan.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Motor (re)insurance underwriting.
  • The level of the role offered will be based on prior year experience.
  • Ability to provide underwriting services to best serve SCOR's client needs.
  • Good understanding of the UK motor insurance and reinsurance market and familiarity with pricing methodologies and actuarial principles.
  • Sound analytic skills evidenced by thorough client and market assessments allowing for further development of SCOR's UK motor portfolio.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and great teamworker, displaying transparent communication.
  • Excellent communication skills for developing or growing a professional network.
  • Good negotiation skills with a focus on value creation.
  • Enthusiasm for new business opportunities and the desire to think creatively.
  • Outgoing and confident with good presentation skills.

Required Education

  • Education to “A” Level standard as a minimum requirement or equivalent qualifications.
  • University Degree and/or Professional Qualification such as ACII or actuarial exams or equivalence.
