The (Senior) Underwriter Casualty Treaty will
take full responsibility for the assigned accounts, encompassing marketing and business development, client relationship management, underwriting and pricing, contract certainty, as well as related administrative activities
demonstrate a strong commercial mindset combined with disciplined underwriting expertise, with a clear focus on delivering sustainable and profitable growth
contribute to planning, reporting and projects.
Support the development of the wider SCOR team and franchise, through close engagement with colleagues specialising in other LoBs and/or geographies, including participation in ad‑hoc project work and some wider underwriting support.
Responsibilities
- Provide in-depth technical analysis of treaty submissions and wordings, within the framework of the SCOR Group guidelines and procedures and in close liaison with the manager
- Construct underwriting decision proposals, with escalation through the relevant reporting line and to Underwriting Management, where required
- Negotiate best obtainable terms and conditions, including most preferred signings
- Review and prepare wordings and other contractual documents
- Price business within agreed delegation / in accordance with Pricing & Modelling guidelines
- Maintain an efficient workflow system for renewal monitoring and reporting
- Deliver a high level of customer service and timely responses to queries
- Monitor market developments, trends and cycles within the designated area and coordinate these findings internally
- Regularly review accounting and claims activity on the treaties written and take action or follow up with manager/support teams, where necessary
- Maintain strong client and broker relationships, positioning SCOR as a strategic partner and research and develop new partnerships and business opportunities
- Attend underwriting visits and marketing activities and keep these recorded in the Salesforce database
- Prepare client action plans and executive summaries in cooperation with colleagues
- Engage with other Client Managers to ensure a joined‑up, client‑centric approach to underwriting
Marketing
- Maintain strong client and broker relationships, positioning SCOR as a strategic partner and research and develop new partnerships and business opportunities
- Attend underwriting visits and marketing activities and keep these recorded in the Salesforce database
- Prepare client action plans and executive summaries in cooperation with colleagues
- Engage with other Client Managers to ensure a joined‑up, client‑centric approach to underwriting
Records and Reporting
Is accountable for the efficient administration of the assigned portfolio and the timely and accurate entry of such in SCOR’s systems by the Technical Accounting and Assistance team
- Monitor and report on KPIs, risk accumulations and other capacities as necessary
- Contribute to the production of the Renewal reports, Portfolio Reviews, and Underwriting Plan
- Support the unit in a wide range of common projects such as workshops, presentations, seminars & events.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Significant working experience in Casualty (re)insurance underwriting
- The level of the role offered will be based on prior experience
- Ability to provide high‑quality underwriting services and differentiated solutions to best serve SCOR´s client needs. Good understanding of UK casualty insurance and reinsurance market
- Demonstrated experience as a successful relationship manager and a good negotiator, comfortably interacting effectively across all levels. Enjoys dealing with clients and selling solutions, have a persuasive personality and strong follow‑through skills
- Sound analytic skills evidenced by thorough client and market assessments allowing for development of strategies to improve business
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to inspire others, coach effectively and promote teamwork. Displays transparent communication and empowers others through effective knowledge sharing
- Excellent communication skills for developing or growing a professional network
- Strong negotiation skills with a focus on value creation
- Enthusiasm for new business opportunities and the desire to think creatively

Required Education
Education to “A” Level standard as a minimum requirement or equivalent qualifications
University Degree and/or Professional Qualification such as ACII or actuarial exams or equivalence
