The predicted salary is between 20000 - 30000 Β£ per year.

Candidates must have the full right to work in the UK for the whole duration of the contract. The successful candidate will be an ambitious placement student who wants to work in a dynamic and multi-cultural actuarial team for 12 months within SCOR, one of the world's largest reinsurers. This actuarial team is responsible for capital modelling for SCOR's Syndicate 2015 which operates in the Lloyd's of London insurance market.

Capital modelling involves quantifying the risks faced by SCOR. The process of understanding and quantifying these risks allows exposure to various teams and lines of business. The successful candidate thrives in a collaborative environment and is eager to develop their actuarial expertise within a specialist team. The work will be hands on and highly technical, working with stochastic simulation models. It will include both business-as-usual tasks as well as project work. It is expected that the intern will focus on preparing and updating the inputs to the capital model, followed by analysis of the results. The intern will be supported to take ownership of tasks under the guidance of other actuaries. The intern will benefit from access to specialist actuarial modelling tools and technologies. This will allow the intern to build practical experience with tools that are commonly used in the Lloyd's market, alongside industry knowledge.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the development and testing of the SCOR Syndicate capital model, to ensure that appropriate capital figures are presented to Lloyd's.
  • Collaborate with other teams (e.g. pricing actuaries) to source inputs to the capital model, while building an understanding of why the numbers have changed and whether the change is reasonable.
  • Support and drive efficiency within the model input data and model output data manipulation processes to help streamline the workflow of the team.
  • Assist in producing reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and regulators.

Qualifications Required

  • Attention to detail: Have a process-oriented mindset, be thorough in checking their own work, and have a keen eye for spotting mistakes.
  • Problem-solving: Keep an open mind and be curious about why things are done in this way. Identify potential improvements in existing processes.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal verbal and written skills that enable them to communicate effectively with colleagues.
  • Organised: Able to organise and manage their workload, prioritising different tasks when needed.
  • Driven: A self-motivator who is keen to learn.
  • Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint).
  • SQL, Python, R or other programming language skills is an advantage.

Education

Strong educational track record, particularly relating to mathematical proficiency.
