We are seeking a motivated and commercially minded individual to join our Financial Institutions (FI) underwriting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an existing underwriter with previous experience in FI, looking to take the next step into a more autonomous and visible underwriting role.
The successful candidate will support the underwriting and management of a portfolio of Financial Institutions risks, including banks, asset managers, private equity firms, insurance companies, fintechs, and other financial services businesses. You will work closely with senior underwriters, brokers, and other stakeholders to develop technical underwriting skills while building a strong understanding of the FI market.

Required experience & competencies
- Demonstrated underwriting experience as an FI Underwriter
- Several years experience as either an Underwriter, an Assistant, Broker Technician, Account Executive, or similar role but preferably in Financial Institutions, Financial Lines, Professional Indemnity, D&O, Cyber, Specialty Lines
- Understanding of underwriting principles and insurance products
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Required Education
- Undergraduate degree or qualified by experience or equivalent
Key areas of responsibility:
- Underwriting new business and renewals within delegated authority limits
- Review submissions, financial information, proposal forms, and supporting documentation
- Attend and actively participate in client and broker meetings
- Prepare underwriting and pricing analysis for review by senior team members
- Support portfolio monitoring and exposure management activities
Broker & Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain relationships with brokers and key trading partners
- Attend/host broker meetings, market presentations, and industry events
- Respond to broker enquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Support retention of existing business and identification of new opportunities
Portfolio Management
- Assist in monitoring profitability, rate adequacy, and portfolio performance
- Maintain accurate underwriting records and systems
- Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal controls
- Contribute to portfolio reviews and underwriting audits
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with senior underwriters, claims, actuarial, legal, and operations teams
- Participate in underwriting discussions and referral processes
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancement
