Experienced Development Underwriter or underwriting/claims leader with significant insurance or reinsurance experience.

  • Recent or current Underwriting authorities.
  • Experience working cross functionally.
  • Holistic view of risk management with understanding of the impact of changes in underwriting and claims on claims experience.
  • Strong product, technical and industry knowledge.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills.
  • Experience in delivering process, philosophy or propositional change.
  • Curiosity and a strong desire to support and drive change in underwriting & claims.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, proven track record of building strong relationships.
  • Ability to work unsupervised pulling in resources as required.
  • Ability to utilise data in key risk management decision making.
  • Project management capabilities.
  • In depth knowledge of Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.

Partnering for Impact:

  • Building strong relationships with SCOR clients, supporting SCOR & SCOR clients with achieving their underwriting & claims strategies.
  • Conducting market benchmarking, analysing and sharing results to support and drive change in key industry challenge areas.
  • Review client technology, processes and philosophy driving optimised risk control and customer journeys.
  • Collaborate across SCOR to co-create innovative reinsurance solutions with clients, including innovative underwriting factors, supporting the evolution of the UK & Ireland Protection market.

Pricing & Risk Management:

  • Using data to identify market trends and opportunities for Underwriting & Claims developments.
  • Review clients Practice, process & data to inform accurate pricing for tenders and in-force management.
  • Calculate Client Specific Adjustments for tenders and review methodology where required.
  • Review client underwriting proposals, working with wider SCOR team to understand pricing and experience.
  • Recommend targeted enhancements to support client strategies, improve risk selection and expand access to insurance.
  • Continuously assess market best practice and product innovation, feeding insights into pricing strategy and product development.
  • To ensure underwriting and claims is compliant with legislative issues (such as Data protection etc).
  • Collaborating with the wider underwriting team on the underwriting audit process.

Thought Leadership & Horizon scanning:

  • Proactively monitor and interpret emerging underwriting and claims trends, translating insights into strategic recommendations.
  • Working closely with other SCOR teams to share knowledge and recommend actions for SCOR and clients.
  • Act as a trusted technical authority in client engagements and industry forums, strengthening SCOR’s market position.
  • Build strong relationships with key client contacts.
  • Deliver thought leadership through presentations, articles, and participation in industry events.

This could include:

  • Client presentation on specific underwriting and claims risk related topics.
  • Producing articles and papers on related topics.
  • Presenting at industry events and SCOR seminars.
  • Contributing to SCOR Group thought leadership and sharing insights across our wider group.
