Overview
In this role you partner with the CUO and underwriting leadership to improve profitability, diversify the portfolio, and reduce volatility in a softening market. You will coordinate cross-functional programs with underwriting, pricing, claims, actuarial, exposure management and reinsurance, while supporting strategic planning, reviews, and executive presentations. You contribute to SCOR’s market positioning and risk management through analytical leadership and collaborative governance. This is a chance to shape underwriting strategy at a global reinsurer.
Responsibilities
- Analyse underwriting performance to identify profitability improvements
- Assist in optimizing reinsurance purchasing and line size deployment
- Provide data-driven insights to pricing and underwriting teams for risk selection
- Define portfolio positioning across market cycles and ensure balanced composition
- Support in achieving right portfolio balance and composition
- Own and enhance the underwriting performance framework and KPIs
- Coordinate performance reviews and support Underwriting Committees
- Develop dashboards and analytical tools with data, actuarial, and pricing teams
- Collaborate on strategic initiatives impacting SBS and CF ambitions (e.g., Augmented underwriting, Algorithmic underwriting)
Key requirements
- Actuarial background is an advantage but not required
- Experience in insurance and underwriting
- Proven track record applying commercial acumen for concrete business outcomes
- Strong numeric skills and ability to interpret complex data
- Highly organized with strong project management and multi-priority handling
- Good team player with ability to develop internal and external networks
- Ability to interact with stakeholders locally in London and globally in a multicultural environment
