Scopely is looking for a Technical Team Lead to join our new unannounced project in either Ireland, Spain, Portugal or the UK on a hybrid/remote basis. We can support with visa sponsorship and relocation assistance.

We are in the development stages of one of our new unannounced projects. We are looking for passionate game makers to collaborate, get in early and make their mark on this exciting venture
We are in the early stages of development on a bold, unannounced, cross-platform Strategy/MMO title, crafting a team of dedicated and hard-working game makers to join us on this exciting journey!
What You Will Do
- Lead several server engineers as part of cross functional teams that are passionate about developing and maintaining the game server.
- Propose and implement improvements to our development processes, workflows and tools, to increase efficiency, quality and throughput.
- Understand the server technology, middleware and their constraints in the main areas of a game: client, server and infrastructure.
- Work with Production and Product Owners to own the development cycle and identify the engineering tasks and processes needed to complete the roadmap.
- Ensure that the games are being built with a productive methodology and solid coding practices, technical briefs, and code reviews, keeping in mind long-term quality
- Work with partners to determine and implement the best alternative technical solutions.
- Identify technical risks on projects and develop contingency plans to put into place with the team.
- Maintain positive working relationships with technology teams within Scopely to improve the use of shared technologies.
- Facilitate communication both within and across disciplines.
- Participate in activities of recruitment, onboarding, development and professional training of the team.
- Define clear objectives to direct reports.
- Identify and promote the application of standard methodologies within the studio.
- Facilitate and encourage the sharing of technical knowledge and code between projects.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience in engineering leadership roles within the games industry or equivalent experience.
- Experience in developing highly available back-end systems and servers for large-scale MMO games, high-traffic web systems or applications
- Experienced with Python and its ecosystem (libraries, frameworks, etc.), familiarity with web frameworks such as Flask, Tornado, FastAPI, or another similar web framework and Python threading, as well as the principles of async programming
- Familiar with the design and implementation of highly scalable, reliable, and secure systems using Redis, such as Redislabs. Solid understanding of RESTful API design and development
- Outstandind people management and communication skills.
- Good knowledge of programming languages and software engineering practices.
- Expertise in the relevant server and infrastructure technologies that are part of a game
- Experience with stateful and stateless game server architectures
