We have an opportunity for a Director in Scope’s Sovereign and Public Sector Ratings team to join an international team of economists and public sector analysts to become responsible for the credit analysis of a portfolio of sovereigns (mostly EMEs) and government-related entities. The position is based in Madrid or London, but other European offices could also be considered. Remote work is also a possibility.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Conduct ratings and research on a portfolio of emerging market sovereigns and government-related entities in Latin America and the CEE region.
  • Lead rating committee discussions, being responsible for rating recommendations and the communication with issuers, investors and journalists.
  • Identify, initiate and undertake rigorous quantitative and qualitative economic, financial and political risk analysis, including macro-economic scenario analyses.
  • Production of high-quality rating reports and sector research, demonstrating Scope’s fundamental understanding of macro-economic and public sector trends.
  • Conduct investor and issuer outreach, and interviews with the press presenting and explaining Scope’s analytical approach.

Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in sovereign and public sector analysis and/or applied economics gained from a ministry of finance, central bank, or similar institution.
