MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION
To enable learners, through guidance and support, to achieve their aspirations and academic goals, by supporting classroom learning and working collaboratively with teaching colleagues. To deliver effective teaching and learning strategies and to support the development of independent learning skills. To evidence progression against targets set in negotiation with the learner and teaching colleagues to meet learning needs. To contribute to EHCP Annual Reviews (where applicable) to ensure that progression towards educational outcomes is being addressed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Deliver engaging and creative learning to meet the needs of the learner including those with barriers to learning. This could be a blend of remote, classroom, 121 or on site.
- Deliver learning and evidence progression to meet the targets set for the learner to enable learners to meet or exceed their goals.
- Motivate, enable and drive learners to achieve their goals through collaborative and creative teaching and learning techniques.
- Create support plans tailored to learner’s individual needs considering results of English and Maths assessments, LDD assessments and evidence of need.
- Provide wellbeing and pastoral support to learners as required to aid engagement and achievement of their goals.
- Deliver a consistently high standard of performance, and quality driven.
- Support the learning process through the development of resources tailored to the individual needs.
- Engage and liaise with internal and external professionals to provide adequate support and guidance required by the learner.
- Complete detailed documentation to evidence the utilisation of funding.
- Work collaboratively with and provide regular updates to delivery teams and support the timely achievement of the learning programme.
- Monitor learner’s welfare, health and safety whilst on the learning programme and upskill the learner’s knowledge regarding Safeguarding, British Values, Prevent and Equality and Diversity.
- Engage in CPD activities to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Occasional travel from base site to meet the needs of the learner and the business.
- Consistently demonstrate SCL group values.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Good standard of general education including English and Maths at Grade C or above, or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths, within a given timeframe.
- Experience of and a proven track record of working with learners with SEND.
- IT Literate, Microsoft Office and Teams.
- Ability to work towards given deadlines and targets.
- Good communication and presentation skills, oral and written.
- Time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- A clear understanding of Safeguarding in Post 16 education settings.
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Understanding of the SEND Code of Practice 2021.
- Understanding of EHC Plans and Annual Review process.
- AET (Level 3) or equivalent Teacher/Training qualification or willing to work towards.
- Appropriate SEND/Learning Difficulties and or Disabilities qualification/CPD.
- Relevant Post16 sector experience.
