At Sciterion, we’re looking for strategic scientific thinkers who go beyond the data. People who instinctively ask: what does this evidence mean in practice, how will it influence clinical behaviour, and where can it have the greatest impact? Do you want to lead, not just deliver? How will you shape scientific strategy across medical affairs—from pre-launch through to launch and beyond—lead high-value discussions with senior stakeholders, and confidently challenge thinking with a clear, evidence-based point of view?

The role involves being a source of scientific, editorial and therapy area expertise within Sciterion, providing strategic direction and management across our client accounts. You will lead and coach the wider scientific team to ensure excellence in the delivery of client projects across a wide range of therapy areas.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership to ensure excellent client relationships.
  • Provide effective line management to ensure training and development opportunities across the team.
  • Ensure optimal allocation of scientific services resource and plan mid to long-term account alignment and succession planning.
  • Work in partnership with client services team and business SLT to ensure all account and business objectives are met.
  • Build relationships and liaise effectively with the Havas Health network, clients and external experts.
  • Proactively provide creative ideas and strategic insights to assist and challenge the client's thinking and planning.
  • Intimately understand client and competitor products, therapy areas, portfolio and commercial strategy in the context of the current and future market.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry codes of practice/legislation and external issues or events that may affect existing or potential accounts, or the business as a whole.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for organic growth, new business and new ideas for Medical Education products.
  • Lead proposal development and present at pitches to secure new business opportunities.
  • Monitor project costs against agreed budgets and discuss any changes to specification with the wider project team and the client at the earliest opportunity.
  • Communicate clearly to team members at all times and budget guidelines and proactively monitor progress against milestones.
  • Establish, and be responsible for maintaining a high quality of medical writing across account teams.
  • Develop, monitor and promote processes for excellent briefing and reviewing.
  • Act as scientific and strategic counsel to ensure internal and external comments are addressed intelligently and question any that are inappropriate, inaccurate or unclear.

The person:

  • Degree educated in science or medicine with a strong scientific background; a PhD or Masters would be an advantage.
  • Proven experience working in a range of therapy areas within a medical communications environment.
  • In-depth understanding of UK and European medical regulatory environment.
  • Understanding of the drug development and commercialisation process.
  • You will have a strategic mindset – able to partner with our client services teams to grow and strengthen our client relationships.
