About The Company
Sciom Limited is growing quickly, and we're looking for someone who wants to grow with us. We're a UK‐based life sciences services company supporting clients across Pharmacovigilance (PV), CDMO support, Regulatory Affairs (RA), Compliance Management and Validation. Our clients include pharmaceutical, biotech and healthcare organisations around the world. They choose us because we combine scientific expertise with a practical, hands‐on approach - delivering solutions that are compliant, reliable and genuinely useful across the full product lifecycle.
As we expand into new regions and strengthen our global presence, we're looking for a Business Development Manager who can help us build strong partnerships, open new markets and drive commercial growth across the UK, EU, US, Canada and beyond. This isn't a "steady state" role. It's ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, thrives in a scale‐up environment and wants to play a meaningful part in shaping the future of a growing organisation.
About the role:
You'll be at the centre of Sciom's commercial growth. Your work will influence our client base, our market position and the direction we take as we continue to scale. If you're someone who enjoys taking ownership, building relationships and turning opportunities into long‐term partnerships, you'll fit in well.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive commercial strategy and help shape how we grow across all service areas, CDMO support, Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory Affairs, Audit Management and Validation.
- Use your industry network to identify opportunities and build meaningful connections.
- Build and manage a strong sales pipeline through targeted outreach, networking and partnerships.
- Lead the full sales cycle from early conversations through to proposals, pricing, negotiation and contract signing.
- Work towards (and exceed) revenue targets that support Sciom's wider growth plans.
- Strengthen our presence across the UK, EU, US, Canada and emerging markets.
- Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders including Directors, QPs/QPPVs and Regulatory Heads.
- Keep track of market trends, competitor activity and regulatory changes to support commercial decision‐making.
- Represent Sciom at meetings, conferences and industry events.
- Prepare forecasts, dashboards and commercial updates for leadership.
- Work closely with PV, RA, QA, Operations and Technical teams to create strong, compliant proposals.
- Contribute to pricing strategy, KPIs and long‐term business planning.
Skills and Experience
- Around 10 years' experience in Business Development, Corporate Development or Strategic Partnerships within Life Sciences.
- A strong track record selling outsourced pharmaceutical services, such as PV, CRO/CDMO, QC Testing, RA or drug safety technology.
- Commercial awareness, strategic thinking and the confidence to work independently.
- Experience leading or developing teams.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, especially with senior stakeholders.
- An entrepreneurial mindset and a proactive approach.
- Professionalism, accountability and a genuine focus on client relationships.
- Willingness to travel internationally when needed.
