SCINERGY Recruitment are recruiting for a Shift Team Leader to join EFW power station in Essex. The Shift Team Leader role involves directing and managing the shift team effectively to ensure the site meets its operational targets in a safe and efficient manner.

The role will involve:

  • Leading and coordinating all day-to-day production and operational activities to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant plant performance
  • Supervising and developing Deputy STLs and Outside Operators ensuring adequate resourcing, training, and competency at all times
  • Managing site safety systems, including permit to work, and driving a strong safety-first culture across all operations
  • Controlling plant operations within design parameters to maximise availability, performance, and output
  • Coordinating closely with maintenance and external contractors to plan and execute work with minimal disruption to operations
  • Ensuring full compliance with environmental, regulatory, and licence requirements, including emissions and operational standards

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Proven experience at Lead Operator / Shift Team Leader / Shift Manager level or similar in the power generation sector – EFW, biomass, coal, CCGT, CHP
  • A technical engineering qualification would be preferred e.g. ONC/NVQ/City & Guilds
  • Strong understanding of safe systems of work and permit-to-work procedures
  • Strong experience of DCS / SCADA operations
  • A methodical, safety-first mindset with strong problem-solving ability
