SCINERGY Recruitment are recruiting for a Senior Health & Safety Manager to join a leading operator within the Energy from Waste sector. This is a senior, business-wide position supporting operational power stations, maintenance activities and construction projects across the company’s growing UK portfolio.

Working closely with Plant Managers, Construction Project Managers, SHEQ teams and senior stakeholders, you will provide expert guidance, drive continuous improvement and help embed a strong, proactive safety culture across the organisation.

The role will involve:

  • Providing expert health and safety advice across operational, maintenance and construction activities
  • Leading the development and delivery of the company’s safety culture programme
  • Ensuring compliance with UK health and safety legislation, industry standards and best practice
  • Coordinating audits, inspections and assurance activities across operational sites and offices
  • Leading investigations into serious incidents, completing root-cause analysis and ensuring lessons learned are implemented
  • Developing and reviewing health and safety policies, procedures and work instructions
  • Supporting the delivery and ongoing management of health and safety training programmes
  • Working with operational teams and contractors to develop practical and cost-effective safety improvements
  • Preparing monthly SHEQ performance reports and identifying trends, risks and areas for improvement
  • Monitoring legislative developments and supporting wider SHEQ improvement projects

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • At least 10 years’ recent experience in a senior health and safety position
  • Experience within Energy from Waste, power generation, construction, heavy process or another highly regulated industrial environment
  • A BSc degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant science-related discipline
  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, standards and best practice
  • Experience developing and implementing health and safety policies and procedures
  • Strong incident investigation and root-cause analysis experience
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections and compliance assurance activities
  • IOSH membership
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • CIWM or WAMITAB membership would be advantageous
  • A full UK driving licence is essential
