SCINERGY Recruitment are working with a leading Energy from Waste operator to recruit a Project Engineer to support engineering upgrades across multiple EFW facilities in the south. This is a fixed‑term contract role for 3 years. This role focuses on delivering engineering changes to increase Maximum Continuous Rating (MCR), improving plant output, reliability, and overall performance.
You will work closely with OEMs, contractors, and site teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to specification. The role will involve:
- Delivering engineering projects to increase plant MCR across multiple sites
- Analysing boiler and plant performance to define engineering requirements
- Developing and reviewing technical solutions with OEMs and contractors
- Integrating projects into planned outages and shutdowns
- Managing contractors to deliver work safely, on time, and within budget
- Producing and managing Management of Change (MoC) documentation
- Supporting HAZOP reviews and ensuring engineering compliance
- Attending site meetings, outage planning sessions, and factory acceptance tests (including occasional overseas travel)
- Working closely with site operations, engineering, and central teams
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- A recognised engineering qualification (HNC or equivalent)
- Experience within power generation, process, or similar heavy industry (EFW, biomass, CHP, oil & gas, chemical)
- Strong knowledge of maintenance and engineering practices
- Understanding of pressure parts / boiler legislation
- Experience delivering complex engineering or project work
- Experience managing contractors and working to tight outage schedules
- Strong communication, organisation, and problem‑solving skills
- A good understanding of safe systems of work and permit procedures
- Full UK driving licence
