SCINERGY Recruitment are recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader to join the leadership team at Rye House Power Station, a modern CCGT power station based in Hertfordshire. This is a key site-based leadership role, responsible for leading the Mechanical Maintenance Team and supporting the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the facility. The successful candidate will play a central role in delivering the site’s mechanical maintenance strategy, supporting outages, managing contractors, developing the team and driving long-term maintenance improvements across the plant.
The role will involve:
- Leading the Mechanical Maintenance Team to deliver safe and effective maintenance across the site
- Supporting the development and implementation of the mechanical maintenance strategy
- Leading mechanical breakdown response, planned shutdowns, outages and major overhaul activities
- Preparing mechanical work scopes and resource plans for outage periods
- Ensuring outage work is delivered safely, on time and within budget
- Providing direct supervision of mechanical work activities and contractor teams
- Managing technical specifications, support contracts and contractor performance
- Developing action plans to improve maintenance delivery and asset performance
- Coaching and providing technical guidance to Mechanical Technicians
- Identifying training needs and supporting team development and performance reviews
- Planning and coordinating multiple mechanical workstreams, projects and improvement activities
- Supporting future investment opportunities, plant modifications and reliability improvements
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety, environmental compliance and housekeeping
- Working closely with operations, engineering and site leadership teams to support plant availability
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- A recognised mechanical qualification at HNC level or above
- Mechanical maintenance experience within power generation or heavy industry
- Strong experience across rotating and static mechanical plant equipment
- Previous experience leading, supervising or coordinating maintenance teams and contractors
- Experience supporting outages, shutdowns, planned maintenance and plant improvement activities
- Good knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation
- Strong communication, planning and organisational skills
- The ability to manage multiple workstreams and prioritise workload under pressure
- A collaborative approach and the ability to support, coach and develop others
- Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving capability
- Good computer literacy and experience working with maintenance systems
- IOSH Managing Safely or similar would be advantageous
- Experience with budgets, contracts and contractor management would also be beneficial
