SCINERGY Recruitment are recruiting for an Environmental Lead to support a portfolio of Energy from Waste facilities across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on environmental professional to take a key regional role within a highly regulated, compliance-led energy recovery environment.
As the Environmental Lead, you will be responsible for managing and monitoring environmental systems, procedures and systems of work across your region. You will support compliance with environmental permits, licences and relevant management systems, helping sites maintain best practice and avoid environmental incidents or permit non-compliance. You will provide environmental leadership, support productivity across the plants and help embed a no-compromise approach to environmental compliance.
The role will involve:
- Managing and monitoring environmental systems, procedures and systems of work at regional level
- Maintaining compliance with environmental permits, licences and management systems
- Monitoring environmental performance, reporting and compliance to ensure best practice
- Supporting permitted and regulated activities within controlled emissions environments
- Providing environmental advice and practical support to Plant Managers and site teams
- Interpreting environmental data and identifying actions to prevent breaches or incidents
- Supporting CEMS monitoring, reporting systems and emissions compliance
- Developing positive relationships with environmental regulators and inspectors
- Supporting environmental incident response, investigations and corrective actions
- Preparing sites for internal and external audits relating to ISO, environmental and compliance standards
- Supporting planned and unplanned outages to ensure permit and licence requirements are maintained
- Helping to embed a quality-led, compliance-focused culture across complex operational sites
This is a 2 year fixed term contract role with the potential to go permanent after.
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- Experience as a hands-on environmental professional within an industrial setting
- Experience within Energy from Waste, energy recovery, power generation or another regulated process environment
- Strong understanding of environmental permitting, reporting and regulatory obligations
- Experience of permitted/regulated activities and controlled emissions environment
- Knowledge of CEMS monitoring and reporting systems
- Knowledge of the Energy from Waste or power industry, including relevant environmental legislation
- Understanding of ISO 14001, with awareness of ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 advantageous
- Knowledge of BS EN 14181 Quality Assurance would be beneficial
- Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills
- Good analytical, IT and data management skills
- A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject
- Full UK driving licence
