SCINERGY Recruitment are supporting a leading Energy from Waste facility in Cardiff with the appointment of an experienced Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineer. Based at Trident Park, this is a major Energy Recovery Facility processing around 425,000 tonnes of waste each year, generating enough energy to power the equivalent of 98,280 homes, and helping divert 95% of South Wales’ residual waste away from landfill.

This is a key site-based role focused on plant availability, safe maintenance delivery, asset performance, and the ongoing improvement of EC&I systems across a critical operational energy facility.

What you’ll be doing day to day:

  • Taking responsibility for EC&I engineering and maintenance across the plant, ensuring electrical, control and instrumentation systems are maintained to a high standard and support long-term site availability.
  • Coordinating, scheduling and planning maintenance activity across planned and unplanned shutdowns, including work on key systems such as HV equipment, CEMS and associated plant infrastructure.
  • Managing the EC&I maintenance workshop, supporting technicians and apprentices, and working closely with mechanical, operations and central engineering teams to deliver robust engineering solutions.
  • Ensuring the maintenance management system is used effectively, statutory inspections are completed, documentation is kept up to date, and plant modifications follow the correct engineering change process.
  • Maintaining a strong focus on health, safety and environmental standards, including safe systems of work, contractor control, site inductions and ensuring all activities are carried out safely and compliantly.

What you’ll need:

  • Strong EC&I maintenance experience gained within a power, process, Energy from Waste, heavy industrial or similar operational plant environment.
  • A HNC/ONC or equivalent engineering qualification, with the skills and experience to work on LV and HV electrical systems.
  • Senior Authorised Person capability would be highly desirable.
  • A good working knowledge of electrical, controls and instrumentation equipment, including repair methods, preventative maintenance systems and fault-finding on critical plant assets.
  • Experience working with Distributed Control Systems such as Siemens, Valmet or similar, alongside a solid understanding of plant isolations, permit systems and safe systems of work.
  • Previous experience supervising technicians, contractors or maintenance teams, with the ability to coordinate work activity and support delivery against agreed KPIs.
