SCINERGY Recruitment are supporting the appointment of an Operations Manager for an operational Energy from Waste power station in South London. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for the safe, compliant and efficient operation of the facility. The Operations Manager will lead and develop the operations team, drive continuous improvement and ensure the plant achieves its operational, environmental and commercial objectives. This position will play a pivotal role in maintaining high operational standards, improving plant performance and supporting the continued safe and reliable operation of the facility.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Operations Department, including Shift Team Leaders, Plant Operators and Outside Operators
  • Drive safe, compliant and efficient plant operations in line with environmental permit requirements
  • Work closely with the HSEQ Manager to ensure full understanding and adherence to site procedures and regulatory standards
  • Monitor plant performance, identify trends and report operational KPIs to senior stakeholders
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve plant reliability, efficiency and operational performance
  • Ensure full compliance with Environment Agency and National Grid requirements
  • Conduct performance reviews, appraisals and ongoing coaching of operations staff
  • Support outage planning and coordinate operational activities with the maintenance team
  • Deputise for the Plant Manager during absence or leave periods

Candidate requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Shift Team Leader or Operations Manager within power generation; EfW, biomass, coal or CCGT backgrounds will be considered
  • HNC, ONC, BTEC or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering
  • Strong understanding of plant operations, process safety and commercial drivers
  • Working knowledge of environmental compliance and regulatory frameworks within the EfW or waste sector
  • Experience managing or contributing to operational budgets would be desirable
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualification would be desirable
  • Strong leadership, communication and team-development skills

Package:

  • Basic salary up to circa £76,000
  • Local allowance of approximately £4,694
  • Bonus of up to 20%
  • Private medical cover
