Control & Instrumentation Engineer – Energy from Waste

£55,000 – £63,300 + benefits

Kidderminster, Worcestershire

SCINERGY Recruitment are supporting an energy from waste plant in Kidderminster with the appointment of an experienced Control & Instrumentation Engineer. This is a hands-on, site-based engineering role focused on plant availability, safe maintenance delivery, calibration compliance, fault-finding and the ongoing improvement of control and instrumentation systems across a demanding process environment.

What you’ll be doing day to day:

  • Ensuring all control and instrumentation systems are operated, maintained, tested and calibrated in line with operational and statutory requirements.
  • Supporting planned maintenance outages and responding effectively to unscheduled breakdowns to help maintain safe and reliable plant performance.
  • Managing maintenance, calibration and testing of specialist equipment, including Distributed Control Systems, Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems and associated control systems.
  • Supporting upgrades, modifications and new installation projects across the facility, working closely with internal teams and external contractors.
  • Helping ensure maintenance activity is delivered efficiently, safely and in line with site procedures, engineering standards and compliance requirements.
  • Maintaining a strong focus on health, safety and environmental standards, ensuring all work is completed safely and supports the continued performance of the facility.

This is a days based role, Monday to Friday.

What you’ll need:

  • Experience working within a power station, process plant, Energy from Waste, heavy industrial or similar operational plant environment.
  • A recognised qualification in Control & Instrumentation or a related engineering discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of control and instrumentation systems, including calibration, testing, fault-finding and preventative maintenance.
  • Experience working with Distributed Control Systems and Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems.
  • The ability to respond to breakdowns, diagnose faults and support reliable plant operation in a demanding live facility environment.
  • Experience coordinating maintenance activity, working with contractors or supporting small teams would be highly beneficial.
